Star Trek Trexels, a game set within the original Star Trek universe featuring characters and locations from both the original series and The Next Generation, is available for free.

The game has been updated to “bring new stories, challenges and characters from Star Trek: The Next Generation.”

In Star Trek Trexels, “A temporal rift has caused old foes and surprising new allies to find their way into an unexplored region of space. Build your ship, choose your crew, and explore an 8-bit galaxy like no one has before.”

“Version 1.5 also introduces a new starship hull based on The Next Generation‘s USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D. This Galaxy-Class starship has been specially modified for exploring the Expanse, and fan-favorite officers Jean-Luc Picard, William T. Riker, Data, Dr. Beverly Crusher, Geordi La Forge, Deanna Troi, Worf, and Wesley Crusher are now available to join players’ crews. Also beaming aboard for special missions are iconic characters from the series, such as Q, Moriarty, Doctor Noonien Soong, and many more waiting to be discovered.

Trexels v.1.5 brings players new tactical combat scenarios, allowing gamers to strategically target enemies and heal officers in the midst of exciting challenge sequences. Players will also go on new adventures in the Trexelian Expanse, which now features over two-hundred-and-fifty stories in total, including new Away Missions, Officer Stories, Red Alerts, and Episodes. Now with forty-five classic characters from the original series and Star Trek: The Next Generation, and twice as many guest stars, players can build a dream crew to explore the Trexelian Expanse. Players are also invited to share their Trexels adventures and ship-building progress with a new screen capture enhancement and built-in social features.”

“With the leap to ‘Next Gen‘ for Trexels, we’ve added more of the mystery, sophistication and excitement from this beloved era of Star Trek‘s history, while still staying true to the fun spirit of the original series,” said Craig Bolin, Creative Director at [x]cube GAMES. “We’re really excited for fans to see their favorite characters and ships from both series portrayed in the retro pixel art style that’s become so synonymous with the complete Trexels experience.”

Star Trek Trexels is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and is available at the App Store.
