Tonight, Star Trek into Darkness John Cho will be appearing in the pilot for Selfie.

Selfie is a modern remake of Pygmalion.

In Selfie, Eliza Dooley (Karen Gillan), a “self-obsessed twenty-something…is more concerned with ‘likes’ than being liked. After suffering a public and humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video and suddenly has more social media ‘followers’ than she ever imagined — but for all the wrong reasons. She then enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her tarnished image. Cho plays the ‘self-assured, successful marketing expert Henry, who is a different breed from today’s social media-addicted society.’ Henry decides to ‘re-market’ co-worker Eliza as a challenge.

Cho spoke about playing the Henry Higgins-type character on the series. “[Higgins] was a linguistics expert, and I was thinking how as an immigrant, I kind of have that,” he said. “When you’re not born in this country, you tend to study how the natives talk and a little bit like Gatsby or something. It doesn’t work when you look different, which is the lesson I learned later.”

Selfie will air tonight at 8 PM Eastern on ABC.
