Rumor Mill: Trek in Universal?

One of the future replacements for the Shrek 4D attraction at Universal might be Trek-related.
This wouldn’t be in the near future though as Universal’s contract with DreamWorks Animation was extended to maintain the Shrek 4D attraction.
If a Trek-themed attraction were to take place, “guests would take the role of Starfleet Academy cadets and join the USS Enterprise on an expedition.”
Treat this rumor as interesting, but seemingly not likely. But one never knows.

What I don’t understand is why Trek would be at a Universal property – they’re not related are they, company wise?
ST: the Experience was really fun, I’d love to see the return of something similar. The ride shouldn’t be all simulator, but have real sets as well. Problem is that anything done now would be set in JJ-Trek, which is just not as compelling to me.
I assume Universal would license it like they did Harry Potter which is a Warner Bros property.
Is it safe to say that this new attraction would probably be based on the JJ Abrams version of Star Trek?
