Two limited-edition Star Trek commemorative coins will be released by the Perth Mint.

The one ounce silver commemorative coins will arrive on February 16.

One coin features Kirk (in color) on the reverse side, with the USS Enterprise next to him. The obverse side of the coin will have Queen Elizabeth II on it, along with the monetary denomination and the 2015 year date.

The second coin features the USS Enterprise flying through space on its reverse side.

The coins are available separately for $115 (Australian) or $230 (Australian) for the set. The two-coin set will arrive in a “transporter” packaging.

Australians can purchase the coins at the Perth Mint Shop in East Perth, at coin dealers, or at Australia Post outlets, while others can purchase them online at the Perth Mint online shop, located here. The Jan 30 2015 “February 2014 New Product Bulletin” provides more information and an electronic bulletin featuring the Star Trek and other coins.

The Trek coins are the first release of “a planned two-year series of releases.” Another release of interest to sci-fi fans from the Perth Mint includes a Doctor Who coin.
