1 min read

OSCShips072015

Issues Fifty-Seven through Fifty-Nine of The Official Starships Collection have been revealed.

The ships include a Saber class ship, a 23rd century Romulan Bird-of-Prey, and a Borg Tactical Cube.

Introduced in the twenty-fourth century, the Saber class starship was seen in Deep Space Nine during the Dominion War, but was also seen in Star Trek: First Contact, and in several Star Trek: Voyager episodes.

The Romulan Bird-of-Prey was first seen in the original series’ episode, Balance of Terror, and later in The Deadly Years, and The Enterprise Incident.

The Borg Tactical Cube was first seen in Star Trek: Voyager, during the two-part Unimatrix episode.

The three ships can be pre-ordered here, here, and here, where they will cost $19.99 each.

  1. I believe the Romulan bird-of-prey was only in the remastered version of The Enterprise Incident.

  2. No, this design appeared originally appeared in Balance of Terror and was featured in stock footage from that episode in The Deadly Years. The original model was lost sometime after the production of BOT so in the The Enterprise Incident we see the Klingon D7 vessels with dialogue explaining that Romulans are now using this design following an alliance with the Klingons. I thought it was a very nice touch to throw in a few Romulan bird-of-prey’s when they remastered TEI.

  3. Interesting, I didn’t know the BoP model had been lost. I thought the whole thing about ship-swapping in TEI was just the production’s way of getting more bang for its buck with its new Klingon ship model.

  4. Why would a Borg “tactical cube” even need to exist? Why would the Borg ever bother having variants of ships? Stupid Voyager….

  5. To be fair, that ship already sailed (no pun intended) on TNG with the introduction of a Borg scout ship.

  6. To be honest, that BoP doesn’t look that good. The “feather” decals on the underside of the wings aren’t supposed to wrap around to the top side like that. The Sabre looks really nice though.

  7. I chose my words poorly. I know the bird-of-prey first appeared in Balance of Terror and footage from that episode was used in The Deadly Years. What I meant was, the original, non-remastered version of The Enterprise Incident did not feature it. And I agree that it was a nice touch to add the bird-of-preys to The Enterprise Incident!

  8. It’s an improved version of the original cube. So really, it should have just replaced the cubes if it had that much better armour/shielding/whatever else.

  9. Some of their models are really good and some looked rushed. I still have not received my Borg Cube gift yet. They say theyre on backorder. We shall see.
