  1. Come on, folks. It’s a 90 second trailer probably hastily put together for the holiday season. Lots of movies have great trailers but suck when released. The reverse can also be true. We have to hope…

  2. Okay…I’m choosing to just pretend there is a pony in this pile of stuff, mainly because I’ve got 99 other things to lament the total ruination of (not the least of which being my career), and need to hold the line somewhere, lest it be nothing but daily despair. So…I’m just going to pretend that the blue unis with gold shoulder stripe are a homage to the Jupiter Veteran outfit of Star Trek Online, and that “Sabotage” is a homage to William Shatner and his inability to pronounce the word, and that the song only occupies 5 seconds of the movie (like Huey Lewis’ “Back in Time” in “Back to the Future”); and that the motorcycle is merely an homage to Steve McQueen in “The Great Escape”, and that this will be the most Trek-like movie ever, up to the point where the echo of Shatner Kirk comes out of the Nexus and restores the original universe with a wave of his magic woodchopping axe.

  3. I’ll try a few: Boring. Stupid. Insulting. Lazy. Derivative. Wrongheaded. Clunky. Hackish. Tepid. Crap. Dismal. Dispiriting. Unfortunate. Diabolical. Depressing. Corny. Dated. Hideous. Moronic.

  4. I have a few words to add, on behalf of Star Trek fans everywhere, to everyone who’s stubbornly defended this lobotomized rebooted bat excrement: “We’re ready to accept your apology now.”

  5. Karl Urban’s Bones is so spot-on. I admit I got a good chuckle at the moment in the trailer. But it was the only good moment as I gasped in horror and embarrassment at the rest of it.

  6. Love the McCoy scene. Hoping for lots of McCoy in this film. As for the rest? Seems to be along the lines of the other two movies but how much can one tell from a short teaser? The teaser got me interested in seeing more, and that’s its job.nnNow they could lose the motorcycle and Beastie Boys music, although the latter might only be heard in the teaser and not in the actual movie. nnGlad for the Monday present. Equally glad that it didn’t drop Christmas Eve. Thanks TPTB for that. πŸ˜‰

  7. Looks grate! Me and my 9 yer old frends are looking foreword to it! LOTS OF ACTION! ACTION! ACTION! None of that talkings and preeching that tells some stupid boring story that makes you think and stuff! Awesome cycle and the ship exploding and crashing! Awesome that they spoiled that and makes me want to see this awesome movie lots of time! Why our others not excited for this movie! -ProfZed Jr.

  8. Personally, I cant stand Pegg or any of his films. Always thought it was dreadful casting in the first place for Scotty. Scotts – the people – are miserable sods (they are, really), so why have him as a comic character?? nAs for the film, I’m certainly not going to hate you for wanting to like, whats the point of that? It’s just my hopes aren’t too high – but I/we could be wrong – and that’s the Star Trek optimism kicking in…

  9. Glad to hear some sort of optimism may be creeping in. However, I should point out that I am Scottish! Genuinely!nnnIn the federation spirit of tolerance, equality and hope, I’m trying not to be too offended by your comments.nnnI have travelled all over the world and have found that Scottish people are among the most joyful people I’ve ever encountered. I defy anyone to come to the Hogmany celebrations in Glasgow or Edinburgh and still say that Scottish folk are miserable sods.nnnAnd by the way, Simon Pegg is English (from Gloucester). I can understand why they cast him in the role, but his accent is poor… but to be fair, no worse than Jimmy Doohan’s accent, God rest his soul. A true Scottish actor would have been a much better choice. Someone like David Tennant perhaps?nnnTo be fair, the most misery I hear from people seems to be on this website, which is hardly a great advert for Trek fandom. Such a contrast to the sheer delight that’s in the atmosphere at any convention I’ve witnessed over the years. Life is too short and precious to waste time moaning and complaining.nnnTherefore, no matter what anyone else says, I will remain optimistic and positive about Star Trek Beyond. I have a feeling that it might surprise us all.nnnOne final thing to consider about how misleading trailers can be. Think back to the trailer for The Voyage Home. (If you’re not old enough to remember it, have a search for it on Youtube). At the time, that trailer got soooo much criticism. Earth being attacked by a giant can of dog food, a seemingly clunky script, the “not time-travel again” complaints and whales… seriously… whales??? It was a truly dreadful trailer, BUT in the end the actual movie surprised us all by turning out to be one of the best films of the lot. I’m not saying ST Beyond will definitely turn out to be one of the best. All I’m saying is let’s wait and see…

  10. Though the trailer for Star Trek Beyond begins with wrong style music ….. Let’s hope that the film itself is better than previous films. That hardcore Star Trek fans complain and anything but pleased that it is to understand completely . Despite being given the film itself must be given a chance before getting to a final judgment of good or bad.

  11. But the trailer made for that same Star Wars movie was so much better. It stirred something up in the viewer, and it had some respect for its source material. This one seems to think of Star Trek as a big joke. I literally hated every second of this and I can’t imagine going to a theater to sit through 90+ minutes of it.

  12. So where are these joyful Scotts (oxymoron?) πŸ˜‰ hehe, must be from a parallel universe..nIf they had wanted a comic Scotty, then maybe they should have hired Frankie Boyle.. Now that would have been interesting….’Scotty, we need warp drive now’… ‘Arr, ye ken go feck ye sen Captain’ – much better…

  13. It’s interesting how the people who are complaining about this first trailer are the same ones who thought that STiD was the worst movie within the ST franchise. HA! Fooled you! Remember, there are multiple levels of “hell”… ;-)nnnAlso, don’t blame the production staff for this film; blame Paraouunt for a) not taking the film series seriously, b) for thinking that, according to Pegg himself, that Bob Orci’s original script for the third NuTrek film was “too Star Trek-y”, and, c) the success of Guardians of the Galaxy (which even Marvel Studios was sure about). You also have to realized that this film is being made for a broader audience than us ‘Trek fans, particularly the international market (see Red Letter Media’s review of STAR TREK ’09, particularly the part on the difference between a “good” film and a “successful” film, from a marketing standpoint). And the funny thing is that we ALL going to see STB, whether we like it or not. You know it, I know it, we all know it, so stop complaining.nnnAs for the trailer itself, I am hoping that STB doesn’t recycle previous scores for the soundtrack. As much as I like the Beastie Boys, using “Sabotage” in the trailer took me out of the film. Paramount, don’t do that for the next trailer release. Give us something epic to listening to as a compliment to the film cinematography. You might yet have a fan for this next outing.

  14. You see that’s why all you negative, nerdy fuckers scared away Jh Abrams, and his whole team right into Star Wars’ arms. You don’t know shit about the movie, none of the particulates, so SHUT THE FUCK UP!! Obviously, that stupid white trash song isn’t going to be in the movie, SIMNER YHE FUCK DOWN AND GET LIVES!!

  15. If they gave away the whole story in the trailer you guys would have complained about that. You people are so obnoxious I swear.

  16. *raises eyebrow* As a physician, the good doctor should know that the auricle of the ear has very little effect on the perception of sound.nnnn:-D

  17. It would hurt my heart too much, to make “Amok Time” look like a dumb action movie. But someone with the sensitivity of a lump of granite could. πŸ™‚

  18. I did say that it’s entirely too possible that the entire movie is a dumb action flick, which I gather is what most people think. It really is entirely too possible. But Pegg and Lin are both fans, so I’m still hanging on to a smidgen of hope.

  19. McCoy: Tell that to a rabbit, you pointy-eared…nnnKirk: Now, now Bones. Come on, Spock. Let’s go mind the store. *nnnnn*[Preferably not the Apple version.] πŸ™‚

  20. The youngest Kanglet just stared openmouthed, then shook his head and walked away. Then again we raised them on Trek.

  21. That is a very sad and painfully accurate point.nIt says to Kang quite clearly that regardless of how Pegg and Lin may feel about Star Trek, Paramount could not give less of a warg fart about it or about the fan base… indicating a strong likelyhood of studio pressure to include Mad Max and Mayans and whatever.nKang now feels a need to polish up Kang’s d’k tahg.

  22. Kang does not see how Orci’s script could possibly have been any better. Fuckface never could write a sequel worth a damn, his imagination is just too limited.

  23. OK, still amazed at how good fan-produced trailers are. Great work! Lotsa laughs! Could call it Fast and Infuriating. Now, when will we see a real Star Trek Beyond trailer? … What’s that you say? This WAS the real trailer? Ouch!

  24. I really hope that you yourself are Scottish; if you are not, then this slur about the Scots has no place on a Star Trek site.nn(No, I’m not Scottish; I just hate seeing any nationality written off as being all the same or all anything.)

  25. Maybe, but at least his story included a great story line that included Shatner and Nimoy. That feat in itself is worth the ticket, not this garbage.

  26. Hmm. Great storyline dubious, but Shatner and Nimoy would have overriden it. Point conceded.

  27. Well, it is like Simon said on the set of SW, “I burn for Star Wars.” He doesn’t care about Trek any more than those other clowns. As soon as I saw that clip, I lost all hope.

  28. Oh wow. Now that is what we are talking about. Love the music. Still a lousy try at a 50th Anniversary of a billion dollar franchise but makes for at lease a watchable trailer. Thank you. πŸ™‚

  29. It seems to me that there are a couple of different scenes that are spliced together to make that “dialogue about the music” portion of the trailer…just sayin.

  30. Music is mentioned in the dialogue, but it may not be the music we heard in the trailer. You’re probably correct though.

  31. Chill out, sport. nnSome will like the movie, some will not. No need to get all emotional over this.

  32. Not sure the scene plays as it’s presented in the trailer, or that the BB song is actually in the movie, etc. hopefully this was misleading…

  33. I like what you said, and mostly agree completely. Had to point out though, that Trek IV represents the first wild tangent and potential betrayal of the source material. It was, after all, a comedy set in the 1980’s. Not exactly what made most of us love the series in the first place. That said, I enjoyed it, but it’s an ironic choice for someone who is criticizing the latest tangent, however righteously. Still, I tip my hat to you, “miss”.ud83dudd96
