Fuller Teases Discovery

1 min read

Although he is no longer working on Star Trek: Discovery fulltime, Bryan Fuller summed up the new series in three words.

“I think what we were doing with Star Trek was…I’d say, ‘Understand Each Other,'” he said.

“Understand each other,” is sure to set off speculation regarding the new series. Some think that it might refer to the Klingons. Earlier this year, Nicholas Meyer, who will be writing and is a consulting producer for the series, said that Fuller considered Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country to be a “real sort of taking off point, or touchstone for how I guess he’s thinking about the direction of the new show.”

Fans will remember that in that movie, that both Klingons and members of the Federation weren’t overly fond of each other, and they distrusted each other.

If the series is not about diplomacy or adversaries learning about how to get along with each, perhaps “understand each other,” refers to meeting new aliens and learning about them.
