Kurtzman On Discovery: Klingon War And Aftermath

1 min read

While the first season of Star Trek: Discovery will be about war with the Klingons, don’t expect that for the second season, said Executive Producer Alex Kurtzman in an interview with Digital Spy.

Kurtzman spoke about plans for future seasons of the show, as well about Michael Burnham’s thoughts on the warrior race.

“Each season needs to be about a different thing,” said Kurtzman. “I wouldn’t necessarily want to bring the Klingon War into season two. However, the results of the war are going to allow for a lot of new storytelling that will be the result of everything that happens and the people that are left behind; the casualties, the things that have grown in Starfleet as a result of the war. That’s what we’ll inherit in the second season.”

Michael Burnham loves alien races, said Kurtzman, and is “fascinated and fixated on them.” The Klingons are especially of interest to her, “for reasons that we’ll come to understand are very personal for her. Given the fact that we’re at war with the Klingons in the show, she’s going to have a lot to say and do about it.”

Kurtzman also said that more Trek TV shows could happen and are “totally possible,” including Bryan Fuller‘s planned anthology series.
