New Trek Apparel For Women
1 min readFemale Star Trek fans will be pleased to hear that some new Star Trek-themed apparel will be released, this time aimed at the ladies.
Her Universe will release Star Trek-themed fashion tops and hoodies this year, beginning next month.
Set to debut on July 11 at the San Diego Comic-Con International 2012 preview night, the apparel and accessories will “feature characters, images and phrases from across the Star Trek franchise,” with a “distinctive and exclusive logo that will appear on all Star Trek merchandise in the Her Universe collection.”
“Star Trek has been one of the most requested sci-fi franchises from our fangirls,” said Ashley Eckstein, founder of Her Universe. “It is truly a dream come true for me to design for this iconic brand. We plan to boldly go where no female apparel line has gone before.”
The apparel and accessories will be available through Her Universe and via The Star Trek Official Store, as well as at select sci-fi and Star Trek conventions.
Neckline is too low for my ample topside. Can’t wear white, and won’t wear red. I am not a Scottish engineer! Otherwise, love the shirts. Since when did Grok become part of Star Trek lore?
These are pretty hideous, and apparently designed by marketing consultants who vaguely remember “Star Trek” and “grok” were both part of that ’60’s thing. “But let’s combine it with that Flashdance look!”
Wesley!?
Marketing consultants.
Actually when Star Trek was almost cancelled in 68 someone snuck onto the NBC studios HQ in NYC (I think) and put “I grok Spock” bumper stickers on all the executive’s cars.
It made a big impression on them… good and bad.
