Welsh Government Uses Trek Alien Language
1 min readWhen asked about details of UFO sightings, a Welsh government spokesman replied in a Star Trek alien language.
Fortunately for the questioner and readers, a Federation Standard translation was provided.
Shadow Health Minister Darren Millar asked three questions of Edwina Hart, who is the Economy, Science and Transport minister. The questions were:
- Will the minister make a statement on how many reports of unidentified flying objects there have been at Cardiff Airport since its acquisition by the Welsh government?”
- What discussions has the Welsh government had with the Ministry of Defense regarding sightings of unidentified flying objects in Wales in each of the past five years?
- What consideration has the Welsh government given to the funding of research into sightings of unidentified flying objects in Wales?
“jang vIDa je due luq,” said the response to the questions. “ach ghotvam’e’ QI’yaH devolve qaS.” For non-Klingon speakers, the answer was “The minister will reply in due course. However this is a non-devolved matter.”
“I’ve always suspected that Labour ministers came from another planet,” replied Millar. “This response confirms it.”
Looks like Millar won that round.
Sheep snagging with a leek up his bum.
I thought the Welsh already spoke an alien language.
Truly? Kang thought it was the first time the Welsh government ever made sense.
Kang just googled Minister Hart. She does appear to be a native speaker.

WTF does “a non-devolved matter” mean? And does tlhIngan Hol actually support such bureaucratically-charged vocabulary?
